Our Story
Legacy. Impact.
Brotherhood.
Eta Alpha Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was formally organized on March 30, 1980 by Charter Members Henry E. Cheaney, William Corley, John A. Hardin, Bernard Taylor, and Dowell Taylor. The chapter was organized at the Kentucky State University Alumni House, with Brother Arnold C. Holliman, State Director, representing the Regional Officers, and Brother Marshall Abstain representing the sponsoring chapter, Epsilon Beta Sigma of Louisville, Kentucky.
The first officers were elected and installed: President Bernard Taylor, Vice President Bill Corley, Secretary John Hardin, Treasurer Dowell Taylor, and Chaplain/Historian Dr. Henry E. Cheaney. By the end of the chapter's first year, membership had doubled and the chapter sponsored Mu Theta Chapter at the University of Kentucky.
Through decades of service, the chapter has remained active and visible through participation in civic and philanthropic endeavors across the Bluegrass region. Rooted in the fraternity's founding principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, Eta Alpha Sigma continues to identify and cultivate men who embody these virtues — ensuring that the "cause will speed nobly on its way."
